“ChatGPT would you please write a technical blog out of the perspective of a Managing Director that focusses on the driving factors in industry to utilize automation technology to optimize their processes.”

I actually entered this into ChatGPT and it wrote the most amazing blog!!

Why did I do this?

Well, when I was tasked by our marketing lady to write a blog for our website, my immediate thought was, what could I do to get this done quickly and get it out of the way as soon as possible.

As Automation Engineers, we always see how we can design, engineer, program, manufacture and implement solutions as efficiently and effectively as possible by developing and using tools that self-generate and automate all these phases of a project.

In industrial processes we also implement Artificial Intelligent Technology to help us to quickly identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in production facilities.

So, yes it has really been imprinted into my nature after years in the Industrial Automation world to do this.

If we read these automatically generated blogs, that there are so many of these days, we can as humans easily identify that the blog was generated by one or another AI Chatbot and I am sure that everyone has come to the point where they quickly lose interest in the blog.

And that is also what I initially did. However, after I read the brilliant blog by ChatGPT, I quickly realized that there is little to no sense of “feeling” in the blog.

There is a common saying in business, “mense koop by mense” (people buy from people).

Now should all of us in the industrial automation space not step back for a moment, pause and re look the way we approach the tasks we are given by customers. Are we really still looking at the customer’s real needs and challenges with care and empathy and with a real drive to listen to them, understand their needs, challenges and requirements and act as the trusted advisor to them?

I am sick and tired of receiving emails, reading blogs on technology and trends, reviewing resumes and many many more examples where it is clear that the content is written with one or other AI Chatbot!

Let’s get back to engaging with each other as humans with feelings, emotions, empathy, spontaneity and initiative. Talk to each other. Listen to each other.

Use class leading AI Technology combined with human knowledge and experience of the plant and processes. Understand the customer’s requirements and challenges and come up with creative solutions that solve real world problems and not artificially generated solutions that is not fit for purpose.

I hope you don’t mind the english grammar in this blog, but I can guarantee you that this Afrikaans guy wrote all of it and I am going to get our Marketing lady to post it as is.
